The Ikon Gallery in Birmingham has an exhibition of woodblock prints by 18thcentury Japanese artist., Kitagawa Utamaro. On loan from the British Museum, these prints show images of women, many courtesans of the Yoshiwara district of Edo (which is now called Tokyo).
On until 14th November, entrance is free.
Also worth seeing whilst at the IKON is a film by Anthony Goicolea called 'Nail Biter'. It is a sinister and tense portrayal of a seemingly innocent habit.
