Isabel Rawsthorne - Moving Bodies

A new exhibition has just opened at the New Art Gallery Walsall. It looks at the work of Isabel Rawsthorne, now overlooked, she was a very influential figure in the art world of the early 20th century. She was a studio assistant to Epstein (hence the connection with Walsall) and she was friends with Giacometti and Francis Bacon. For nearly 20 years she drew and painted ballet dancers at Covent Garden, many of whom were also close friends. All these associations are apparent in her work which is on show from 15th June to 8th September 2012. Entry is free.

  1. You may like to know that I have an original drawing of Rudolf Nureyev by IB - originally a gift to my late father.
